How to Make a Great Cup of Espresso

Making a truly great espresso takes a bit of practice, even if you have an automatic espresso coffee maker.

Here are the basics to get you started:

You must start with a high quality espresso bean and the beans should be fresh. Grind the beans with a high quality burr grinder. Check to see if your machine comes with one.

1) Start with cold, clear water. Pour this into your water compartment and make sure the top is on well. The rule is one shot of espresso is about 1 ounce. So if you want a double do 2 ounces and so on.

2) Put in your coffee grinds. Your machine should have some type of sign or line that tells you how much to put in. Or for a really easy way to make espresso use a machine that uses espresso pods.

3) Put your cup or carafe under the spout.

4) Remove the cup as soon as the "cream" starts to turn white.

Make sure to clean your espresso machine well after each use.

How to Brew a Great Cup of Coffee

Want to learn how to make a great cup of coffee? Well it all starts with the coffee beans or grinds that you use. They must be fresh. Using stale coffee will naturally make your coffee taste dull and unappealing.

The next thing that you must look at is the quality of water that you are using. Filtered water tastes better and will make your coffee taste better. If tap water tastes bad to you, why would you assume that it wouldn't affect the taste of your coffee. Cool filtered water does make a difference.

A third thing to look at is your coffee filter. Paper filters can crumple on the sides allowing coffee grinds to fall into your coffee. No one wants to taste gritty coffee. Look for a coffee maker that has a gold filter that you can take out, wash and reuse.

If you do just these three things you are way ahead of the game. It will make a huge difference in your coffee drinking experience. If you want to go even further, buy a coffee maker that allows you to choose the strength of your coffee. Why settle for a weak cup when many coffee machines have the capability of brewing you a stronger cup automatically?

That is all for now. Try these simple tips and really start enjoying your next cup of joe.
